Research Interests

Research continues to focus on the taxonomy and biogeography of muroid rodents (rats and mice), especially Neotropical groups (oryzomyines, peromyscines), the Malagasy nesomyines, and various African murids (murines, otomyines). Current projects include various generic and specific accounts of Oryzomyini for the rodent volume of South American mammals (J. L. Patton, ed.), and taxonomic revisions of the Otomys typus complex of East Africa (with Peter Taylor), the Praomys delectorum species group of East Africa (with W. T. Stanley), and Nesomys of Madagascar.
