Research Interests

Classification, evolution, and biogeography of fishes, especially marine fishes. Blennioid fishes. Late 19th and 20th Century scientific illustrators of fishes.

I am, with Kristin Murphy, currently preparing a biography of Charles Bradford Hudson (1865-1939), widely known for his scientific illustrations of fishes and, later, for his western American landscapes and marine scenes.
